Public Relations Manager

Description
The Public Relations Manager is responsible for cultivating media relations, generating news stories, press releases, organizational marketing and branding, managing public relation campaigns, coordinating public and community forums, plan and coordinate special events, create and maintain internal PR for company employees, grow relationships with media both in the market and outside the market, coordinate media tours and interviews for Senior Staff and company partners, brainstorm ideas for additional editorial and media coverage and collect all press materials to store on file.
• Formulate PR plan for the year and for specific events.
• Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
• Talking to others to convey information accurately.
• Writing effective press releases and editorial.
• Developing relationships with the media and gaining event coverage.
• Collecting and archiving press clippings, event photos, TV news and radio broadcast coverage.
• Speaking with media on behalf of the property.
• Assisting in the planning and organizing of any press conferences or media events
• Updating the media contact list.
• This position is not limited to those duties listed in the job description. Duties and responsibilities can be changed, expanded, reduced or deleted to meet business needs of the company.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in public relations/communications, journalism, hotel/casino/entertainment or a related field and minimum of (3) three years in a public relations or media position. A self- starter with a strong understanding of all media channels, including; drafting press releases, letter writing, editing, social networking, building relationships within the local community, and managing public relation/marketing campaigns. Must work well independently or as part of a team. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
Computer literate with an office PC (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.)
Primary English speaking with Spanish language skills are a plus.
Able to work any required events as scheduled including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
